  2. 2006 California Funding for the Arts and Physical Education • $105 million – Visual and Performing Arts funds (AB 1811) • Proposed as on-going funding (Approximately $298,000. for EUSD) • $500 million – Visual and Performing Arts and Physical Education Funds (SB 1131) • One-time funding (Approximately $1.4 million for EUSD)

  3. Vision Statement • All children are entitled by federal law to an education in the arts and physical education, which are core academic subjects. The state of California has a very clear set of standards in the arts and physical education to guide the implementation of a comprehensive curriculum.

  5. Guiding Principles • 1.Implementation of the California Arts and P.E. standards for students in the district with quality and depth ensures attention to excellent education. • 2.Equity across sites, classrooms and groups of students ensures all children have access to the Arts and P.E.

  11. Recommendation • We recommend that the Board approve the Strategic Plans for the Arts and Physical Education at the September 20, 2007 meeting, as well as adopt a Resolution for the Arts and Physical Education that will meet the 2007 State regulations for expenditure of funds.

  12. Next Steps • Schools identify site liaisons • Committees meet to set timeline for implementation of Plans • Finalization of Budget for the 3-year cycle of the on-going grant
