The mission of the Task Force on MFCCH The HPH Task Force is co-ordinated by HPH Regional Network Emilia Romagna, AUSL Reggio Emilia • To create a framework for continuity after the conclusion of the MFH project • To share and disseminate best policies and practice and initiate the development of quality tools • To foster co-operation and alliances between healthcare organisations and other networks • To support health care organisations in the HPH in becoming MF & CC organisations as indicated in the Amsterdam Declaration WHO-HPH TASK FORCE ON MIGRANT FRIENDLY AND CULTURALLY COMPETENT HEALTHCARE HEALTH PROMOTING HOSPITALS NETWORK OF EMILIA – ROMAGNA AZIENDA USL DI REGGIO EMILIA – DIREZIONE GENERALE

AMSTERDAM DECLARATION • All European hospitals are invited to implement the Amsterdam Declaration, become migrant-friendly and culturally competent organisations and develop individualised, personal services from which all patients will benefit. • Like any other form of organisational development, the success of becoming a “migrant-friendly” hospital will depend on the complementary contributions of different stakeholders: • Hospital owners/ Management/ Quality Management • Staff/Health professions • Users (actual and potential patients, relatives)/Representatives of community groups • Health policy and administration • Health sciences WHO-HPH TASK FORCE ON MIGRANT FRIENDLY AND CULTURALLY COMPETENT HEALTHCARE HEALTH PROMOTING HOSPITALS NETWORK OF EMILIA – ROMAGNA AZIENDA USL DI REGGIO EMILIA – DIREZIONE GENERALE

THE POLITICAL CONTEXT FOR THE TF MFCCH • Recent policy developments within the EU provide an important context for the work of the TF MFCCH. • Recommendation of the Committee of Ministers to member states on “Health care in a multicultural society”,Adopted by the Committee of Ministers on 8 November 2006. HOW THE TASK FORCE SUPPORTS THE DEVELOPMENT OF MFCC HEALTH CARE? • To review and summarise the example of good policies and practices to date To develop ways of improving the delivery of high quality, linguistically appropriate, culturally sensitive, equitable and accessible heath care services To identify obstacles to progress and to propose the development of effective interventions and quality tools (guidelines, standards, indicators..) ORGANISATION OF THE TASK FORCE • Coordinating team (decision making level): to lead and coordinate actions; to decide and organise activities (projects, workshops, conferences). • Advisory group (scientific level): to discuss ideas and developmental activities to inform the coordinator decisions. • Working groups (operative level): to collect and develop knowledge and practice in the areas of concern. • Hub of networks (partnership level): to facilitate connections between other networks and projects • MFH web-site (communication level): to share ideas and knowledge, to promote and disseminate best practice.
