  2. Introduction: A circle is a geometric shape that we have seen in other lessons. The circle above can be used to represent one whole. We can divide this circle into equal parts as shown below video It is divided into 2 equal parts It is divided into 3 equal parts It is divided into 4 equal parts

  3. Objectives: • The students will be able to: • Define fraction, Numerator, Denominator. • Identify the number of shaded parts and the number of equal parts in a shape • Identify a fraction by comparing the number of shaded parts to the number of equal parts.

  4. CONTENT • Definition • Types of Fraction • Proper fraction • Improper fraction • Mixed fraction

  5. Fraction:- A fraction means a part of a group or of a region. 3/5 is a fraction. We read it as “three-fifths” what does “5” stands for ? It is a number of equal parts into which whole has been divided. What does “3” stands for ? It is a number of equal parts which have been taken out. Here “3” is called numerator and “5” is called the denominator. pictures

  6. Proper fraction: In a fraction, the numerator is less the denominator. E,g 3/5 ,4/6, 5/8 3/8 4/6

  7. Group members:- Mr. Altaf Ahmad Mr. Manzoor Ahmad Mr. Fayaz Ahmad Mr. Mushtaq Ahmad Mr. Fayaz Ahmad

  8. Improper Fraction:- The fractions, where the numerator is bigger than the denominator are called Improper fractions. e.g: 3/2, 12/7, 18/5 are all improper Fractions

  9. Mixed Fractions: Fractions such as 1½, 2¼, and 3¾ are called Mixed Fractions. A Mixed Fraction has a combination of a whole and a part. Pictures

  10. 3/4 2/4 = ½ 1/4 4/4=1 1 ½ = 1 ½ 1 1 ¼ = 2 ¼ 1 1 1 ¾ = 3 ¾

  11. Activities: Write the fraction representing the shaded portion?
