Un-jumble the words to work out the definitions for: Life course: Life chances: Once you have worked out what the definitions are and you have written them in your glossary you should try to answer the following questions: What do social class and ethnicity have in Common? What would society be like if everyone was equal? How can the area that a person lives in effect their health?

  2. Iife chances: Does everyone have an equal starting point in life? Aims: • To identify and evaluate key experiences in a person’s life course. • To analyse which factor could have the biggest affect on a person’s life chances and be able to justify your choice Key words: Life course: The key changes you experience during the different stages of your life. Life chances:The chances that different social groups have of obtaining things regarded as desirable or of suffering things regarded as undesirable. Copy these into your glossary.

  3. Read through the following exam questions. You have 3 minutes to answer one of them: • (a) Explain one way in which gender can affect an individual’s life chances. (3 marks) • (b) Explain one experience in a person’s life course that may be affected by their social class.(3 marks)

  5. Your life course Draw a timeline in your book of your life course so far, and your expected life course. Include; • Education • Family • Health • Job/career • Housing • Leisure activities/hobbies • Money • Holidays Highlight the aspects of your life that are affected by your; gender, ethnicity, religion, social class

  6. Life chances: Does everyone have an equal chance in life? In your book write a paragraph explaining which factor you think has the biggest affect on a person’s life chance? Make sure you justify your answer! Which factors affect a persons life chances? Why?
