  2. Community Engagement is not an exercise in public relations It is a collaborative process aimed at reaching a shared understanding of preferred solutions to identified key community needs and priorities

What Is: • In 2007, the RVS Board of Trustees acted on their belief that school/community partnerships are important. • Policy allows schools and school jurisdiction to be accessible to the public • Policy allows schools and school jurisdiction to be open and transparent • Policy allows schools and school jurisdiction to have input into decision making • Guidelines are developed and speak to the public engagement model

  4. Why? • As a result of Inspiring Education (encouraged school boards to do more community engagement) • RVS is reviewing its model • RVS had guidelines and is currently developing a policy around this topic • This is a great time to go to stakeholders for input
