  4. Where Are We Today? USPS Customer Inconvenience • Confusing experience for our customers at retail • Customers choose from at least 10 different forms • Minimal content embedded in these bar codes • Customers who purchase more than one service are required to “rewrite” information for the same mail piece.

  5. Where Do We Want to Be? • One intelligent bar code on every package • End to end visibility on every package • Bar codes that tell us more about the package and shipper for systems like EVS • Intelligence from bar codes is used to manage and grow our business

How Do We Get There Intelligent Bar Code On Every Package • Standardize bar codes for domestic and international • Enable UCC/EAN 128 Bar Code Symbology on all packages. • Provide unique identity and sortation • Update systems to collect, pass, and analyze information collected from the bar code

How Do We Get There Mail Visibility • BMC Network • Established enroute tracking infrastructure to support future track & trace initiatives • Software updates to move to near real-time data transfer • Improved Del Con read rates • Mailers now using UCC/EAN-128 • Software enhancements to identify USPS barcode Enhancing Our Network To Enable Tracking Of Packages Tracking IMVIS P&DC BMC SSIU & HSIU APPS & SPBS

How Do We Get There Mail Visibility • Plant Network • APPS scan tunnel technology captures Del Con scans • Tied reported scans into new Enroute Tracking Infrastructure • Using scans internally for service diagnostics • Installed first SPBS Track & Trace Scanner System • Tied SPBS scans into new Enroute Tracking Infrastructure • Deployment complete in Fall • 65% of Priority volume on APPS, SPBS or Flats sorters • Parcel and Flats Sorting Equipment enabled • Achieving additional 1.5 million enroute scans daily Enhancing Our Network To Enable Tracking Of Packages
