Challenges • Continuing disputes with Sudan (Khartoum gov’t) • Oil production, revenue • Border (Abeyei) • Refugees fleeing Sudan’s attacks in Nuba, Abeyei • Lack of or limited infrastructure • roads, electricity, bridges, flood control, telecom, Internet • Climate impact on agriculture • Limited, weak national economy • Inter-tribal conflict • Gov’t corruption, favoritism, influence of foreign interests • Meeting needs of rural populations (majority of people) • Water, healthcare, sanitation, education • Managing resources, environmental concerns
