  3. Know Your Material • Be familiar with what you are going to say • Use a note card with key points

  4. Practice • Do your presentation at least twice before it counts!

  5. Relax • Have confidence in yourself, everyone wants you to do well!

  6. Know Your Audience • Speak in words your audience understands

  7. Don’t Apologize • Don’t apologize for being nervous, everyone understands that it is normal

  8. Scenarios • Each group will get a scenario, you need to act it out, state which tip will help and present the information correctly.

  9. Scenario 1 • Today I want to talk to you about the Titanic. I wasn’t there so I don’t know too much about it. I think it was a big boat and I think it was in cold water. I know there was a really great movie about it with Leonardo DiCaprio.

  10. Scenario 2 You are presenting in an elementary school setting: I would like to introduce my science fair project about cardiovascular function. The cardiovascular system is an integral part of the human anatomy.

  11. Scenario 3 Thanks for having me, I’m so nervous… ummm I am not used to public speaking so this is hard for me…. And um I think it is important to ummmm, Let’s move on, I’m sorry I don’t do this very well.

  12. Scenario 4 Read as Fast as you Can! • Thank you so much for having me, today we will be discussing the habitats of tree frogs, there are many types of tree frogs in the rainforest, they are colorful and valuable members of the ecosystem.

  13. Scenario 5 • Today I am presenting on, wait… what’s my topic again…. Hold on let me find my notes. I think they are over here. Wait here they are… Oh I’m presenting about the Civil War… where is my second page…This is the first time I’ve looked at this.
