  1. Goals • Usability Investigations for High Energy Physics Analysis • Focusing on building test bed infrastructure to test the performance and adaptability of the typical middleware used for data access in HEP on the 100 Gbit environment • Testing data access middleware for • Bulk data transfer – GridFTP (Aug) & Globus Online (Sep) • Condition data access – Squid (Oct) • Distributed File System access – Lustre (Oct) • Good response time from ANI test bed administrators for… • …questions and requests on the network configuration • …setting up machine image with requested configuration • FNAL Collaborators • Ruth Pordes (PI); Gabriele Garzoglio & Dave Dykstra (Grid and Cloud Computing, FNAL Computing Sector); Raman Verma (IIT Graduate Student Contractor)

  2. GridFTP test bed • Preparing GridFTP environment with 20 Gbit between BNL and NY. GridFTP server on BNL, clients on NY. • Testing 100 GB data transfer from remote disk to local memory through 2 * 10 GbE interfaces, using a typical scientific data distribution sub-grouped in 3 size ranges. • Learning how close we can get to interface saturation (optimized transfer parameters; with 20 GbE, disk is already the bottleneck).
