Son muy útiles para el transporte personal de datos, desplazando en ese área a los CDs, DVDs o disquetes.Pueden encontrarse memorias USB desde 32 MB hasta 60 GB y utilizan el puertoUSB para transferir información.Suelen utilizarse también para reproductores de MP3.Son muy baratas, resistentes al polvo y rasguños y en teoría pueden guardar información durante 10 años y escribirse alrededor de un millón de veces.
