  2. Radiation • Radiation is discover to be harmful to humans • Radiation can damage genetic material and destroy the natural environment • Nuclear radiation can last many years for it to decay • The clean up radioactive material is expensive and can last a long time

Three Mile Island • On March 28, 1979 a nuclear accident on Three Mile Island happened • Radiation escape into the environment • It was cause by a cooling malfunction on the nuclear reactor • The clean up plan of the damaged reactor cost 973 million dollars and took 12 years • It was the first nuclear accident to occur in the USA

AFTER THE ACCIDENT • Before the accident there was about 200 nuclear reactors order to be constructed or under construction but the accident ended most of them • The accident is consider the worst nuclear accident in the USA • There was no new nuclear reactor order after 1978 • There was no health effects after the accident • The accident is a factor that collapse the production of nuclear reactors

Nuclear Energy • Nuclear energy is safe • Many countries are trying to built more nuclear industries to replace fossil fuels and oil • Nuclear Industries do not produce as much pollution as other energy sources • It is the hazards' nuclear industries use to get energy and what it produces after using it, that people are worry about

  6. NUCLEAR INDUSTRY IN THE USA • Experts have said that nuclear industry will become the leading industry in the USA • In 2009 20.2 % of the energy used in the USA came from nuclear industries • The USA is a leading producer of nuclear power in the world, making up of more than 30 %

NUCLEAR INDUSTRY TODAY • Nuclear industries have got safer • They have got more security and laws enforcing them •  Recently, a nuclear accident happens in Japan and was cause by a natural disaster. The accident has shown the anywhere in the world that has a nuclear power plant is not safe even if they have more security. Nuclear power plants are always in danger to attacks and natural disaster.
