Generating Radiography e-Learning Resources Student academic partners: Caroline Chaibva Laura Clare Harrison Janet Marie Hoffman Katie Elizabeth Inman Priscilla VongaiMasoha Marta Khitrykh-Wodzikowska Academic partner: Nic Bartholomew About the Project: BSc(Hons) Radiography student partners have collaboratively generated a series of video lectures to depict radiographic techniques to support learning through simulation. These are supplemented with related podcasts for flexible learning and with formative Moodle quizzes to test understanding. The aim of simulation is to help prepare students for clinical practice; in the same way, the videos provide a visual representation of techniques and emphasise key skills that willsubsequently be assessed. These visual cues help to prepare students for clinical practice by giving them the confidence to engage due to their enhanced familiarity with these techniques. This project has provided a fantastic opportunity to work collaboratively with students whilst producing valuable learning resources. Prior to the development of these resources, the teaching technique was largely didactic albeit supplemented with simulation activities. Simulation is indeed an excellent opportunity for learning, however a small proportion of students may find the experience of having to ‘perform’ in front of peers somewhat daunting and this may inhibit engagement. The videos can capture the simulation experience for student review in the ‘comfort of their own home’. My student partners were instrumental to the concept and design of these videos. In addition, they have supplemented them with podcasts and formative online assessments to further scaffold learning. ‘Working on this project helps us to build confidence and develop team working skills’ Katie Inman Working with my student partners has established a dialogic framework which enables us to share ideas and learn from each other Nic Bartholomew
