LOG IN….Open a NEW EXCEL Document

Type a FIRST NAME that begins with EACH letter

Example:

Row 1 Alicia

Row 2 Brendan

Row 3 Courtney

  • Type A through Z in ALL CAPITAL LETTERS

  • Example:

    Row 1 A

    Row 2 B

    Row 3 C


Make pretend that you are an owner of a restaurant in your teen mall

Make pretend that you are an OWNER of a RESTAURANT in your Teen Mall

Create an HOURLY WAGE for each employee (don’t forget the $). $7.00-$13.25

EACH SHOULD BE DIFFERENT

Example:

Row 1 $7.00

Row 2 $8.40

Row 3 $11.30

  • Type a JOB TITLE for EACH of your people (you WILL have to duplicate jobs!)

  • Example:

    Row 1 Cashier

    Row 2 Cook

    Row 3 Manager

    Row 4 Asst. Mgr.

    Row 5 Lobby

  • Type a NUMBER between 5 to 45 for each employee.

    EACH SHOULD BE DIFFERENT

  • Example:

    Row 2 10

    Row 3 23

  • Remember MULTIPLICATION SYMBOL is *

  • CLICK on ROW 1

  • In HOME MENU, select INSERT

  • In ALL CAPS and CENTERED, type the following

    COLUMN HEADINGS:

    Column A:A Thru Z

    Column B:FIRST NAME

    Column C:JOB TITLE

    Column D: HOURLY $

    Column E:TOTAL HOURS

    Column F:GROSS PAY

    Column G:TAXES

    Column H:NET PAY

  • If your typing (words OR numbers) DO NOT FIT in the COLUMN…….

    DOUBLE-CLICK between the column letters and Excel will AUTOMATICALLY ADJUST for the longest line in the column!


Centering columns

Center the following columns (because they contain numbers)

Column D: HOURLY $

Column E:TOTAL HOURS

Column F:GROSS PAY

Column G:TAXES

Column H:NET PAY


Adding another row

  • YOU need to ADD YOUR NAME to the list!!!

  • INSERT a ROW (so that your first name is ALPHABETICALLY placed on your list!)

  • Give yourself A JOB TITLE, TOTAL HOURS and CALCULATE Gross Pay, Taxes and Net Pay

SAVING

  • Save this document in your TIES folder as YOUR LAST NAME.

  • Save this document in NORTON STUDENTS FOLDER

    (Shared Folder/Norton Students/Your Class Period/Your Last Name)

  • Save as NOV 14.
