Math Strategy of the Day: Draw a Picture • Often, a problem that seems complicated becomes easier when you draw a picture to represent the situation. • The sketch doesn’t have to be perfect; but it should give a reasonable visual representation of the problem. • Make sure the sketch is accompanied with labels.

  4. When in Doubt, Draw it Out • You will each be given four problems that will be easier to solve using a picture. • Draw the picture for each of the problems, then check in with your advisor to see if you have the correct sketch. • Once you have been checked in by your advisor continue solving the problems.

  5. Rally Coach Activity • Students need to get into pairs. One person needs to be partner A and the other person needs to be partner B. • Partner A will work from the blue Rally Coaching sheet and Partner B will work from the green Rally Coaching sheet. • Partner A will begin by working on the “Problem to Work Out” on their sheet. • When Partner A gets stuck, Partner B will use their Coaching Problem to help by asking the questions given on the sheet and prompting Partner A to answer them correctly. • When Partner A completes their problem, the roles are reversed for Partner B to work on the “Problem to Work Out” on their sheet.

  6. Practice Test Time • You will receive the next set of questions from your previous test. These will be questions 22-42. • You will have 21 minutes to answer 21 questions. • Remember to use your strategies on answering all of the questions that you know how to do first, use elimination with your answer choices, and draw pictures out when appropriate. • Good Luck!

  7. Score Your Test • Use the answer key to figure out how many questions you answered correctly and to determine how you could have answered others correctly. • Add up the total number of correct questions on this test and the number of correct questions on the previous test. Remember, we will have a grand total after the third test. • Discuss the different strategies that you used in answering the questions amongst your advisory group.
