Accessing the Information Centre’s webpage • Access the GIBS website www.gibs.co.za • Click on Resources & Facilities • A drop down menu appears • Click on Information Centre 2. Accessing the Electronic databases • Click Electronic databases • Click on Emerald • (Management, Information Science) • TIP: Please scroll down to see more database options

  2. Emerald Quick Guide 3. Accessing the databases - Emerald • Type in your surname • Type in your student number • Click on Submit TIP: Remember to put a ‘g’ in front of your student number 4. Searching Emerald • Click Advanced Search • TIP: The best option to use when searching any database is the ADVANCED SEARCH option. It provides the searcher with more options to limit or expand searches

Results List • To view a record, click on the titleOR • Format • OR • Mark it by clicking on ‘Add to my list’ • (To access “My List”, you must set upyour own profile, by selecting My Profile and following the steps provided.) • TIP: To view articles, Right click with mouse on the link, and OPENIN NEW WINDOW, it helps to keep your original list of articles, in case you accidentally close the window

Document view • To download the full article, • Log-in by typing in your username (eco2) and password (uplib) • Click on Login TIP: First read through the abstract and keywords before you start downloading the article. The abstract will give you an idea of what the article is about. Bibliographic information of article to be used when referencing 8. Downloading the article Select a full-text format – html or PDF
