The University was founded in 1968-69 with the creation of the Higher Polytechnic School of Valencia, which integrated the School of Agricultural Engineering created in 1959, the School of Architecture created in 1966, and the Schools of Civil Engineering and Industrial Engineering, both created in 1968. It was also in 1968 when the School of Architecture became independent from the School of Architecture of Barcelona, and became part of our university.

Ten years later, in 1978, the Faculty of Fine Arts became part of this university. From then on several institutions were incorporated; the Technical Schools of Industrial Engineering of Valencia and Alcoy, the Technical School of Architecture of Valencia, the Technical School of Agricultural Engineering of Valencia and the Technical School of Computer Science that started its activities in 1985.
