  2. Context Clues 1.Reread and Gather Clues- Find words in the sentence that you do know to help you figure out the word(s) you don’t know. 2.Summarize- Decide what the story is about to help you understand the meaning of the word you don’t know.

  3. Context Clues 3.Use Background Knowledge- Use what you already know to make an educated guess on the meaning of the unknown word. 4.Check your Guess- Does your guess make sense in the sentence? 5.Revise- If your guess did not make sense, try to find the same word used in a different sentence.
