  3. Grading Scale • Tests = 30% • HW/CW/Daily = 30% • Benchmark Exams= 30% • Performance Essay = 10%

  4. Tests- 30% of total grade • Students are told about test dates at the beginning of each month, they are asked almost daily, “When is the next test?”. • Tests will be given every one to two weeks. • Students are not allowed to redo or retake tests. • A review/study guide is given before each test.

  5. HW/CW/Daily Grade - 30% of final grade • Each day we go over students’ homework. They have a chance to ask questions and make corrections. I try to give as much time in class to complete homework assignments as possible. Some students may finish in class while others may have to finish at home. • All students should have a notebook, ask your student to show you their notebook on occasion. • Students will have skill checksthroughout the semester to assess whether they have mastery of a skill we have been working on in class. • We will be working on our writing skills in math by answering short answer questions/writing prompts. These grades will build as we get closer to the Performance Essay in October. • I may give additional assignments, collect HW or give “pop” quizzes as I see necessary to ensure that students are staying up to date with their work.

  6. Benchmark Exams- 30% of final grade • These are cumulative exams given every 4 ½ weeks during the semester. The 4th benchmark will be the EOCT/Final Exam. • The percentage the exams count changes, making the final or EOCT count 20% of this category. • Benchmark 1 Sept. 5th 50 points • Benchmark 2 Oct. 9th 100 points • Benchmark 3 Nov. 16th 150 points • Benchmark 4 Dec 17-20 600 points

  7. Performance Essay- 10% of final grade • October 31st • This will be an essay/short answer test that your student will be required to take in all classes. • We will be preparing for this with writing prompts/short answer test questions throughout the semester. • The grading rubric is available on my website.

  8. Make-Up Work/Absences • It is your child’s responsibility to make up work that they miss when absent. Please be aware that when they miss 1 school day they have missed 7 classes. They could have missed multiple reviews/tests. Please help them to make sure they get caught back up. • Any tests/quizzes that are missed must be made up before or after school.

  9. Help Sessions • I am available Monday afternoons until 4 and Tuesday and Thursday mornings from 7-7:40a.m. • UpGrade is available on Mondays and Wednesdays until 4. If students live in the Buford district a bus will take them home.

  10. Teacher Webpage • Please visit my webpage for additional information regarding specific assignments: http://awrightbhs.weebly.com/ • Click on the Math Strategies page for class specifics.
