  2. Publication Plus Strategy The Strategy: Publish + Publish Well + Publish in the Discipline

  3. ERA: The Primacy of the Discipline • The primary ‘Unit of Evaluation’ for ERA is the research discipline. • All data collection will be at the 4 digit Field of Research level. • For some areas of research, there may not be sufficient research volume to undertake a valid analysis at the 4 digit FoR level. ERA Submission Guidelines: March 2009

  4. ERA Indicators Research volume and activityTotal research outputs and research income within the context of the eligible researcher academic profile. Research qualityRanked outlets, citation analysis and peer-reviewed Australian and international research income. Peer review incorporated where necessary. Research ApplicationResearch commercialisation income and other applied measures.

  5. ERA and Publications • A publication is ranked if it appears in a ranked outlet. • Ranked publications will be assessed by 4-digit FoR code of ranked outlet, i.e. by discipline. • Volume of ranked publications will be measured. • Quality of the ranked publication will be measured by ranking and citation analysis. • This leads to the Publication Plus strategy.

  6. ERA and UniSA Schools • ERA takes no account of the Division/School structure of an institution. • Schools need to align strengths with “appropriate” FoR codes. • Measure alignment by publication output distribution for each school.

  7. Education: ERA 2010 ERA eligible outputs 2003-2008 …/continued

  8. Education: ERA eligible outputs 2003-2010 (continued) Based on Draft Journal List, there are some unranked outputs which were published by the School but do not appear on the ranked list (these may appear on the final list).
