  3. Senior Meetings – what’s that? • Receive a copy of Your Transcript • Review Graduation Requirements • Talk Financial Aid Planning • Think/talk about majors/jobs that interest you • Discuss College & Post Graduate Plans

  4. College Entrance Exams • SAT www.collegeboard.org • ACT www.actstudent.org • Community College Placement Testing* • Most colleges/universities require the SAT or ACT • Most colleges/universities will accept either the SAT or ACT • Students may choose to submit both the SAT and the ACT • Some colleges/universities allow students to apply without SAT/ACT*

You Should Also Know… • Fee Waivers are available to students who qualify (see your School Counselor) • 2 for SAT and 2 for SAT Subject Tests • 2 for the ACT • College application fee waivers* *waivers are posted in students’ College Board acct • Students with disabilities may request Accommodations • Please see your Counselor for details • Plan ahead, this process takes some time

HIGH SCHOOL TRANSCRIPT • Hardcopy/mail - Request your transcript Through the Counseling Office • Request your transcript at least 2 weeks prior to application deadlines • Don’t to forget to include any counselor forms • First 2 requests free, additional $2 • CFNC transcript (Upload) • Mid-Year Transcripts (free) • Scholarship Transcripts (free) • FINAL TRANSCRIPT sent mid-June (FREE)

NC College Application weekoct. 21-25, 2019 • Goal for every student to apply to at least 2-4 colleges • Many college application fees are waived *see handout • Tabor City College fair – October 25th • Military recruitment – Asvab October 25thAM • All community colleges in North Carolina are free to apply • Complete your RDS beforehand!!!

FAFSA - Free Application for Federal Student Aid • Must file to determine eligibility for all federal and most state aid for year entering college • File online form after October 1, 2019 • FAFSA on the Web (www.fafsa.ed.gov) • Use www.fafsa4caster.ed.gov to project eligibility • Some scholarship opportunities require the FAFSA

Important upcoming events • College Fair (9-30, 5-8pm) – over 150 Colleges & Universities will be present • Tabor Series: Financial Aid Information Night (10/7@6:30pm) – Mr. David Gelinas,Senior Associate Dean/Director of Financial Aid @ Davidson College • District Financial Aid Workshops – Ed bldg. @ 6pm:Oct. 23rd & Feb. 13th • Spartan College Application Week (Oct. 21-25) • Asvab Oct. 25th– *sign up in guidance

Crosby Scholars Check the Crosby Board for announcements (500 hallway across from the Attendance window) for updates and announcements! • Attend 2 of the 5 Senior Academies • Monthly meetings with Sr. Advisor • Community Service Deadline Jan. 31, 2020 • Register and stay on track with your CS Portal Scholarships with Crosby Scholars: Last Dollar Grant BBB Scholarship Make sure all email addresses and contact info is up to date in Student Portal. Crosby sends emails and updates via emails!

  11. Throughout your senior year… • Pass all classes and graduate • Continue to achieve • Stay involved in activities and lead • Keep your counselor informed • Make good choices • Be open to changes, experiences and outcomes
