  3. LOCKDOWN! Lights Off Door Locked Move to the Back of the Room Do Not Open the Door No talking If someone comes in, we attack! 2

  4. FIRE DRILL Push chairs in & bring only your phone Lights out Single file and stay together Exit through door #3 We will report to the island in the SW parking lot Listen for roll call 1 2 3 4 5 6

  5. TORNADO 1 2 3 Door closed and locked Leave belongings in the classroom Report to the safe hall and wait for directions

  6. EVACUATION If you need to evacuate the building: • Exit at the nearest door out of danger area Places to report: • Football field – report to 20 yard line SW side (Burnell’s class) • Eastlake Elementary • Brink Jr High

  7. EARTHQUAKE During an Earthquake: • Drop • Cover • Hold On 2

  8. HOLD! 1 2 Remain in the Classroom Wait until the “All Clear” is announced

WORKSTATIONS • Do not store items under you desk • Keep your area clean and free of clutter • Good Lighting – reduces glare and protects against eye strain • Monitor Distance • Set the distance to the monitor screen at arm’s length • Can vary depending on user’s visual acuity (sharpness or clarity of vision) • Height of monitor  • Where the eyes look naturally • Top 1/3 of the screen when head is held level • does not have to tilt head up • Chair Adjustments • Knees and hips are level or knees slightly below your hips

GENERAL SAFETY TIPS • Keep walkways clear • Do not stand on your chair • Make sure cables and cords are away from your feet • Do not overload sockets • If a machine/cable becomes hot, report it immediately • Cables and cords should not run unprotected across walkways • Damaged cables and cords should be replaced • You are ultimately responsible for your safety in the classroom

  12. Review • What do we do when we hear lockout? • What do we do when we hear hold? • Should you store things under your desk? • What do we do if a cord is damaged?

  13. REVIEW • Can you get an injury if the computer monitor isn’t in the correct place? • Who is responsible for your safety? • What do we do if there is an earthquake?

  14. REVIEW • Should you keep your space clean and free of clutter? • Should you stand on your chair? • Should you stay in your seat until the bell rings?

  15. REVIEW • When we have to evacuate, what door do we exit? • If we were able to adjust our chairs, how should we?
