  3. CHALLENGE ONE • Lady Adams has moved to the United States from England; she has made an appointment with Dr. Dumas to establish a relationship and address some health issues. She is 55 y/o, WF, moderate SOB observed when escorted to the intake area. Per protocol, you obtain her height and weight. • She weighs 132 lbs and is 5’5. She is concerned that she has gained weight and that she is shrinking. She only knows her mensurations in the metric system. • You will have four minutes to complete this challenge

  4. Convert 132 lbs to KilogramsConvert 5’5 to Centimeters • 100 points for correct weight conversion • 100 points for correct height conversion • 50 BONUS POINTS if both are correct • 25 points for effort if neither are correct Correct Answers: • 132 2.2 = 60 kg • 5’5 = 65 in. x 2.5 = 162.5 cm

  5. Challenge Two Dr. Dumas has ordered a spirometry assessment. • First Place 150 points • Second place 100 points • Third place 50 points

Challenge Three Dr. Dumas has also ordered a routine urinalysis. • You will assist in the collection process. • As a trained professional you know there are industry standards concerning adequate urine volume for testing. • A desirable volume for a random specimen is _________ ml of which you would pour off approximately __________ ml for dip stick analysis. Correct Answers : 30 ml & 10 ml • 100 points for both correct answers • 50 points for one correct answer • 50 points for effort if neither are correct • 50 points for each successful “tinkle” • Four attempts will be allowed

Challenge Four • Dr. Dumas ordered AdvairDiskus for Lady Adams as he has diagnosed her with chronic bronchitis due to environmental exposure to castle dust. • You noticed several expired samples in the stock closet. You asked Lazy Lucy to remove all expired samples from the stock closet. Lazy Lucy and Careless Cara created the diskus throw! • 50 points for each successful throw • Each team has five attempts

  8. Challenge Five • Dr. Dumas volunteers weekly at the free clinic. He has asked you to accompany him to teach young mothers about dosing techniques. • You provide each new mother with a medicine cup to teach them conversions for dosing. • You have 2 minutes to build a pyramid of medicine cups with a base of 6 cups. • 50 points for successful completion of pyramid. • How many mothers attended the educational session? • 50 points for correct answer • What is the total volume used in your pyramid in milliliters? • 50 points for correct answer 21 mothers 630 milliliters
