  2. What really matters in Unit Five? In addition: *Use Unit Five as a review of economics concepts like scarcity & opportunity cost. *Review the regions of Georgia to discuss differences in where Dr. King & Jackie Robinson lived in the state. *Movement (as a geographical concept) is very important in the lives of both men, and tracking where they lived provides great map skill practice. • Who are Dr. King & Jackie Robinson? • Why do we remember them today? • How did where they lived affect them? • How did they influence our state & nation (even today)? • What choices did they have to make? • What were the results of those choices (positive & negative)? • How are our lives different from theirs?

Teaching Unit Five: • Scarcity • Review scarcity & opportunity cost • Discuss choices made by historical figures & what the opportunity cost was for those choices • Discuss choices that were & were not available for figures, & why that was • Time, Change, and Continuity • Differences in Robinson & King’s lives & ours • Commonalities in experience, especially in childhood • Many opportunities for discussing change for individuals, communities, & larger society
