  1. PREPARING NORTH TEXAS FOR ELECTRIC VEHICLES 2010 Energy Efficiency and Conservation Summit and Fair July 17, 2010 Jenny Danieau North Central Texas Council of Governments

  2. NORTH CENTRAL TEXAS North Central Texas Ozone Nonattainment Area* * Based on 2006 – 2008 Air Quality Data. EPA will not designate areas as nonattainment on these data, but likely on 2008 – 2010 data which are expected to show improved air quality.

  3. NORTH CENTRAL TEXAS Emissions Reduction Control Strategies Identify and Quantify Strategies • Control strategy catalog • On-road mobile source responsibility Implement Local Air Quality Projects • Transportation Control Measures (TCM) • Voluntary Mobile Emission Reduction Program (VMEP) • Other Local Programs • Monitor SIP Commitments • Mobile Source Emissions Reduction Database • Transportation Control Measure Substitution

  4. NORTH CENTRAL TEXAS 2009 Nitrogen Oxides (NOx) Inventory Area: 44 tons Point: 61 tons (10%) (13%) Biogenic: 52 tons (12%) Non-Road Mobile: 107 tons On-Road Mobile: 184 tons (41%) (24%) Source: Texas Commission on Environmental Quality

An exceedance occurs when the ozone concentration ≥ 125 parts per billion averaged over a one hour period. Source: NCTCOG Transportation Dept
