To provide with credentials; to recognize an educational institution as maintaining standards that qualifies its graduates for admission to higher or more specialized institutions or for professional practice. • Certify: To attest authoritatively, such as to attest as being true or as represented or as meeting a standard.

Table 2: Criteria for the Future • The system would be an integrated system that will continue to grow to consistently meet the demands of today’s fire service and anticipate the needs of tomorrow. • The system would meet the needs of all firefighters and stakeholders. • The system would include a process for quality assurance in both products (curricula) and delivery of service (instructors) and infrastructure (equipment and facilities). • The system would include a fiscal mechanism to develop and maintain both product and delivery, as well as sustain itself for the future. • The system would have mutually unified governance.
