  3. What?Research Aims Aim 1. Examine the role of nature sports in fostering young adults’ sense of well-being and belonging relative to the natural environment Aim 2. Understand the mechanism by which this translates (or not) to an emotional connection with the work of environmental charities (specifically the National Trust)

  4. Why?The National Trust Understand how Young Adults Experience their Sport Appealing Promotion and Conservation Increased Engagement and Membership Understand Barriers to Membership

Why?Academically The Importance of the Research Current Literature Developing Knowledge and Moving Forward • Understanding the interconnections between humans, human health, and the natural environment • Shape utilisation of the natural environment to enhance health – impact policy • Inform how we conserve the natural environment • Restorative benefits of the natural environment • Green exercise and the natural environment • Nature sports and sensory link to the natural environment • Nature sports and environmental activism What could this tell us about identity construction, individual agency, and organisational membership? How does it all connect together?
