  11. Let’s get our essay on!

  12. Act Scores • Your scores are NOT static. They will change. • Your scores are NOT a reflection of your future potential. • Your scores going up is completely dependent upon how much you PRACTICE. • Output is in relation to input

  13. How your test was scored • First, I counted the number of question on each test that you answered correctly. There is no penalty for incorrect answers. • Then, I converted your raw score (number of correct answers on each test) to “scale scores.” • Each test score (English, Mathematics, Reading, and Science) and your Composite Score range from 1 to 36. The Composite Score is the average of your four test scores, rounded to the nearest whole number.

  15. How to read your Act Scores Doe, Jane

  16. College readiness benchmark scores • This is where the ACT feels that this is the level you should be at given that you have had a solid education up until now • College Readiness Standards are early indicators of likely college success; however, success is defined as a 50% or higher probability of earning a B or higher in corresponding college level course

  17. Let’s talk about this • If your score is lower than you anticipated… • Perhaps you didn’t pace yourself during the test • Perhaps you didn’t have time to guess and fill in all the bubbles • Perhaps you weren’t familiar with the types of questions that were being asked • If this is the case, have no fear • Next semester, we are going to prep like crazy! • If you put in the work, your score will go up

  18. Before you leave: • Clean up the room!
