  3. did you know • The Indian tribes of the Ohio Valley surprised and angered by there defeat of there French allies in the French and Indian War. • British traders lacked the reputation for fairness in dealing with the Indians that had been the hallmark of the French. • Native American uprising against the British just after the close of the French and Indian Wars, so called after one of its leaders Pontiac’s. • The French attitude towed the Native Americans had always been conciliatory . • Henry Bouquet conducted warfare against the Shawnee and Delaware in western Pennsylvania. His success enabled Sir William Johnson to negotiate a peace agreement.

  4. course of the war • In April 1763 a council was held by the Native Americans on the banks of the Ecorse River near Detroit there an attack on the fort at Detroit was planned.Pontiac’s scheme was to gain admission to the garrison for himself and some of his chiefs by asking for a council with the commandant, but the native American who wpold.
