THE ROTARY FOUNDATION IS OUR CHARITY • Enables Rotary’s programs and projects • Funded entirely by donations and investment income • Big – yet tailored to serve each club and individual Rotarians effectively • From Polio to local community projects • Let’s us do more with our fundraised dollars than we could do alone

OUR ROTARY FOUNDATION 2017-18 • Celebrated 100 years in 2017 • Ranked tops by Charity Navigator for tenth year in a row • Ranked Number one foundation in the world by AFRP in 2016 • 92% of funds go to programs / operations • Net assets of $1.1 billion US with goal of $2.025 billion by 2025 • Raised $414.7 million vs goal of $360m

ANNUAL FUND • Primary funding source for Foundation grants and activities – the operating account • Supports local and international grants through the AF SHARE system • Contributions invested 3 years to fund administration • Contributions are credited to donor’s club and applied to club’s goal – cumulative recognition • Contributions also generate recognition points which can be used to recognize others

  19. PAUL HARRIS FELLOW RECOGNITIION • Awarded to a person who contributes $1,000 US or in whose name $1,000 US is contributed • Recognizes contributions to Annual • Fund or PolioPlus • Cumulative, $1,000 increments to • PHF +8 level

  20. PAUL HARRIS SOCIETY MEMBER • Pledges and Contributes $1,000USeach year to the Annual Fund, PolioPlus, or approved grants

  21. MAJOR DONOR • - Cumulative gifts that reach $10,000 level • - Personal outright giftsof $10,000+ • - Arch Klumph Society - $250,000 and above • Cash, life income agreements, bequests, real estate, or securities all eligible

  22. BEQUEST SOCIETY • Future gifts - Provision in estate plan totaling $10,000+ with recognition at time of advice to Rotary • Examples: living will, life insurance policy

  24. Rotary’s major program.... • Job is 99.9% complete, but we cannot let up yet • - If stop now there would be 200,000 cases again within ten years

Polio Eradication • 2.5+billion children received vaccine since 1985 in 122 countries… • Only 3remaining endemic countries… Africa now polio free! – Afghanistan, Nigeria& Pakistan remain… • Rotarians invested $1.8 B so far to eradicate polio • 2:1 Match from Gates continues… • DDF and directcontributions are still needed to complete the job… • It costs a total of $3 to immunize each child (10 cents for vaccine and rest for distribution) • Presented By: • Kristopher J.   30. HOW ARE WE DOING IN 5040? • - Total Giving from District 5040 Rotary Clubs in 2017 – 18 was $880,927 • - Annual Fund $277,886 • - Polio Plus $264,504 • - Endowment Fund $317,716 • - Avg. Per capita to Annual Fund $192.71 • - 734 (of 1,471) Rotarians supported TRF • - Six Peace fellow interviews – 2 selected

TRF PRIORITIES 2019 - 20 TRF PRIORITIES DISTRICT 5040 GOALS • Raise $50 million / year to meet the Gates Foundation match for polio • Increase contributions to Annual Fund and Polio • Build Endowment Fund to $2.025 billion by 2025 • Increase public awareness of the Rotary Foundation and grow non Rotarian gifts • Raise $300,000 for Annual Fund • 100% of clubs support TRF • Per capita giving goal of $200 per member • Increase of Rotarians support to TRF by 10% • Increase Paul Harris Society to 100 members (from 88)
