  1. Academic Problem Solving 1 • Look through your resources for information • Use a whisper voice • Ask three people as specified by the teacher for help (not for the answer) before asking the teacher • Decide on a solution in a timely manner • Begin task being solved

  2. Addressing The Teacher 2 • Use Mr., Ms., Mrs., with name • Wait Quietly for acknowledgement • Use “Excuse me” or “May I?” • Low voice • Say “Thank you” before leaving the conversation

  3. Admit Slips 3 1. Enter quietly and take your seat 2. Place admit slip/planner on top of your desk area 3. Follow teacher’s instructions or agenda on the board 4. Any questions, raise your hand and wait quietly

  4. Announcements/Class Calls 4 1. Voice off 2. Stop working 3. Hands and feet still 4. Wait until announcements are over 5. Raise hand to ask questions when announcements are over

  5. Apologizing 5 • Face the other person • Speak clearly • Use low, calm , sincere tone of voice • Say “Please forgive me for…”

  6. Asking for Help 6 1. Signal teacher appropriately 2. Wait quietly to be acknowledged 3. Low voice 4. Say, “Thank you” before leaving teacher 5. Walk with quiet feet

Assignments 7 • Assignment is completed • SWOOSH heading: name, date, period, and assignment title written on right hand corner of paper • Assignment is completed legibly and neatly in pen or pencil as requested by teacher • Place papers face up and in same direction in tray/basket/box • Turn in assignment on time

  8. Audience Behavior8 • Voice off • Sit straight with your back against the seat back • Eyes on speaker • Keep hands and feet to self • Applaud using 2 hands for approximately 5-10 seconds

  9. Auditorium (Entering) 9 • Walk in a straight line • Hands and feet to self • Take seat quickly in teacher designated area • Sit up straight, back against seat back • Sit quietly

Back Packs/Back Sacks 11 • A strap on each shoulder; carried on back • Leave on back until in the classroom. • Hang over chair or place under desk or other teacher designated area • Keep backpack away from others • Only place materials in backpack that are needed for class or that will be taken home • Put on back when leaving the classroom at the end of class or at the end of the day.

  12. Bathroom Usage 12 • Walk directly to bathroom • Move directly to and from area of usage • Place trash in trash can • Wash hands with soap and water and dry hands with dryer • Leave immediately when finished and walk directly back to class

  13. Bus Holding 13 1. Use low voices 2. Stay in seats/work quietly 3. When bus is called, walk directly to the bus.

  14. Bus Line 14 • Take teacher designated route straight to bus line • Hands and feet to self • Stay in line • Low voice • Wait for your turn to board bus

Cafeteria 15 • Enter through assigned door • Walk with hands or feet to self • Go directly to assigned table and wait quietly for instructions • Talk quietly with those seated near you • Don’t play with food & eat only your own food • Dispose of all trash, yours and that which others left behind

  16. Cell Phone Use 16 • Powered Off and out of sight between 8:00 AM & 3:00 PM 2. After 3:00 PM, used for communicating only (calls and texting only).

  17. Class Changes/Hallway 17 • Walk on the right side only of hallway • Hands and feet to self • Hold objects with hands in front or on your side • Only walk facing forward • Use low inside voice

  18. Classroom (Entering) 18 • Stay in a single-file line to enter classroom after previous class exits • Get materials • Walk directly to seat or designated area and be seated • Voice off • Keep hands and feet to self • Begin work right away and complete assigned task

  19. Classroom (Leaving) 19 • Pack up material at signal from teacher • Voice off during teacher directions; whisper as pack up • Make sure homework and EQ are written in planner • Leave area clean/empty • Wait in seat for teacher to dismiss

  20. Class (Listening) 20 • Eyes on speaker • Voice off • Hands and feet still • Sit straight in seat with your back against seat back • Raise hand to speak or ask a question

  34. Homework 34 • Write homework in planner under appropriate block • Collect needed materials to complete homework • Complete homework after school • Put homework back into correct section of SWOOSH Notebook • Turn in completed homework on time

  35. Homework (Turning It In) 35 • Use school heading on all papers: • Walk into room, go to seat, and take out homework papers • Place homework in homework tray/basket/box so that it is right-side up, facing same direction, and in a neat pile • No talking/visiting at homework tray/basket/box

Media Center (Entering) 41 • Discard food, gum, or drinks before entering the library. • Library books, planners, and ID’s are to be held in front of you or to your side securely • Enter through doors quietly • If using “Book Drop Return” drop books gently • Show signed planner and be wearing ID to show Media Staff

  42. Media Center(BookCheckout) 42 • Line up at checkout desk in single file • Have ID’s and books with barcode facing up, ready to be scanned • Take a free bookmark as you go • Use exit procedure if with a class

Media Center (Book Care) 43 • Books are to be opened no more than at a 180 degree angle • Barcodes are to be left intact • Always use a bookmark to mark your place (they are free) • Carefully place books in your backpacks to keep them clean and dry • Always make sure your hands are clean when handling your library book • Keep pages free of pencil, pen, and highlighting marks • Return books no later than due date

  44. Media Center Voices 44 • Voices are to be “whisper level” • Be respectful of others reading, testing, or studying in the Media Center

  45. Media Center (Exiting) 45 • Line up silently before the metal detector against wall, opposite of checkout desk • Carry books and materials back to your classroom in front of you or to your side

  46. Planners (Filling Out) 46 • When the bell rings, write daily EQ and homework in planner in appropriate space • No ditto marks or lines drawn across planner • When finished, put planner away and prepare for class

  47. Pledge of Allegiance 47 • Stand up straight • Eyes on flag • Right hand over heart (left side of chest) • Speak respectfully and in sync with leader • Say words correctly

  48. PTSA School Store 48 • Wait until dismissed by teacher • Walk quietly to the back of the line against the wall • Hands and feet to self • Wait quietly until your turn • Be polite as you purchase your goods
