  3. Things to do during enrolment:

  4. A. Open a personal bank account in a localbank A bank account is needed for future payment of monthly tuition fees and receipt of monthly Postgraduate Studentship (if any). Documents required for opening a bank account: • Hong Kong Identity Card, or Passport with a valid student visa/entry permit; • Documentary proof of your local address in Hong Kong; and • (for non-local students) documentary proof of address in their home country Individual banks may require other additional documents.

Arrive at the enrolment venue on thescheduled date/time Documents Required for the Enrolment: • Letter of Admission; • Personal Identity Document (e.g. Hong Kong Identity Card, or Passport with a valid student visa/entry permit); • A cheque or a casher’s order (made payable to “City University of Hong Kong”) for the specified amount to settle the various payments mentioned in the Admission Notes; • Bank passbook or your ATM card which shows your bank account number; • Original copy of academic certificates and diplomas [English and Chinese versions (if applicable)]; • Original copy of transcripts/grade reports [English and Chinese versions (if applicable)]; • Original copy of English Test Result sheet (IELTS, TOEFL), if applicable; • Completed Thesis Submission Requirement Form • Completed Enrolment Form for Medical and Personal Accident Insurance Plan for Non-local Research Students

Verification of the original copy of thesupporting documents for qualifications claimed in the application form You are required to present the ORIGINAL copy of: • academic certificates and diploma; • transcripts/grade reports; • English Test Result sheet (IELTS, TOEFL), if applicable. Anymisrepresentation and/or fraudulent information found Cancellation of Admission Offer by the University

  7. D. Payment of Fees Students are required to settle the following fees in ONE paymentat the time of student enrolment: • First three months’ tuition fee (after deducting the Acceptance Fee*) • Graduation fee • CityU Postgraduate Association (CUPA) membership fee • Insurance premium (for non-local students only) *The Acceptance Fee (HK$7,016) paid at the time of admission will be credited toward the tuition fee upon successful enrolment.

  8. Pay by cheque or casher’s order or bank draft (Name of Payee: “City University of Hong Kong”) • We DO NOT accept cash. • Tuition fees starting from the 4th month onwards will be collected through direct debit from individual students’ designated bank account on the 10th day of every month. • Insufficient funds/late payment late charge of HK$200 per billing and additional charge levied by the bank.

Submission of Various Forms Pertinent to YourStudies Before you come for enrolment, please download and complete the following TWO forms being attached in the online Admission Notes: • Thesis Submission Requirement Form; and • Enrolment Form for Medical and Personal Accident Insurance Plan (Applicable for Non-local Research Students only)

  12. Blank copy of the following TWO forms will be available on the day of enrolment, please complete them beforeapproaching the enrolment counter: • Studentship Payment Request Form; and • Direct Debit Authorization form

  15. F. Issuance of CityU Student Identity Card You should have uploaded your personal photo when you are doing pre-enrolment. This could certainly help shortening your waiting time. If no valid photo is provided, we will take your photo on site. You must take good care of your student identity card during the studies at the University. Student Identity Card which is not transferable to any other person. Alteration, falsification, or misuse of the Student Identity Card is a violation of the Code of Student Conduct, and will be subject to disciplinary action.

  16. G. What should I do next after enrolment?  Have you attended or made an appointment for the Pre-sessional Diagnostic Interview? If not, make an appointment through the Online Booking System. ALL NEW research students are required to attend a Pre-sessional Diagnostic Interview, except those candidates who: • are English native speakers; or • have attained an overall score of 6.5 or above in IELTS (with 6.5 or above in the speaking component); or • have attained an overall score of 79 or above in TOEFL iBTtest (with a score of 20 or above in the speaking section of TOEFL iBT), or equivalent scores in the paper-based or computer-based TOEFL tests)  Discuss with your research supervisor about your coursework plan using Form SGS16A.
