A beginning teacher is any teacher in the first three years of his/her teaching career.
The first three years may occur across employing school districts, whether public or private.
15 days of professional development are to be provided across the first three years of employment.
Professional development hours are portable during this induction period.
During the first three years of employment, the beginning teacher is to be provided a mentor.
District repots provision of professional development in Registry of Education Personnel (REP) in two categories.
Five days of teacher professional development shall be provided each year.
The five days shall not be counted toward the professional development required under Section 1526 (for new teachers).
Districts report provision of professional development on DS – 4168 Report of Days and Clock Hours of Pupil Instruction.
