Important Features of The Global ILL Framework Uses the ISO ILL Protocol for communicating ILL requests between the NACSIS ILL and OCLC ILL systems OCLC’s IFM is used to pay fees Makes use of systems all ILL librarians are familiar with Therefore requests are easier for everyone Faculty, Japanese Studies librarians, and ILL librarians alike

Global ILL Framework Update May 2002 GIF Launched Phase I -- photocopies (non-returnables) January 2003 GIF Initiative Moves to NCC for Project Management Early 2003 Testing of procedures for lending of books August 2003 the GIF initiative expanded to Phase II -- the lending of books Summer-Fall 2003 Loan Policy and Z39.50 Access Surveys Completed December 2003 Training Workshops for Japanese ILL Librarians Today 87 Japanese Libraries Participating
