  3. FATS • Fuel the body • Help absorb some vitamins • 3 Types: • Unsaturated Healthy • Saturated Unhealthy • Trans More unhealthy • 30% of daily calories • Building blocks for hormones • Sources: • Oil , Butter, and Meats

Protein • Builds, maintains, replaces tissues • 2 Types: • Soluble  amino acid • Insoluble  lacks amino acids • protein to make protein molecules • muscles, organs, immune system are made of protein • Sources: - beef, poultry, fish, eggs, dairy products, nuts, seeds, black beans ,lentils etc…

  5. Fiber • absorbs water ,easy elimination of waste • 2 Types -SolubleDissolves in water -Insoluble Doesn’t dissolve in water • Found in the plants • Has no calories • lower blood cholesterol ,prevent diabetes and heart disease • Sources: -fruits, vegetables, grains, legumes

  6. Vitamins • Needs them to work • 2 Types: -Fat soluble (A,D,E,K) -Water soluble (B,C • eat different foods to get vitamins • There are 13 vitamins • Has its own role • Sources: -Found in all foods

  7. Minerals • Help your body grow • 2 Types: - Macrominerals - Trace Minerals • Needs a tiny bit of each one • Main Minerals : Zinc, Iron, Calcium, Potassium • Sources: - red meat, such as beef, is a good source of iron

  8. Water • Required to live • Body has 55% to 78% water • one and seven liters of water • two hydrogen atoms, one oxygen atom • 20% of water comes from food • Sources: - Food and Water
