  1. “History of Me” By: Derek Robey 2013-14

  2. Who Am I? Derek Robey Born: 10/25/64 (Everett, Washington) *The youngest of 4 siblings Dawn 54 Rick 52 Dana 50 I’m a native of Mitchell, South Dakota and a 1987 graduate of Northern State University. This marks my 26thyear teaching and this is currently my 9th year teaching and coaching for the SFCSS. On my actual birthdate… Minnesota Viking Jim Marshall #70 runs the wrong way for a touchdown!!

  3. “Typical” Day at School… • My alarm goes off at 6:00 AM • After my daily stop for coffee and donuts  I’m usually at the school by 7:00 AM. To start my day, if I don’t have morning duty, I can usually be found in my classroom or socializing with my fellow teachers. Throughout the day I teach three sections of 8th Grade American History and two sections of 7th Grade Geography. (I like teaching both subjects) My favorite school lunch is Hot-Dogs!! I coach EVERDAY after school! (Fall -- Cross Country, Winter– Boy’s Basketball Spring– Track) I’m usually back to bed by 10:00 PM zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

  4. “My Story”… Choose one event from your life and write/fill one “slide” describing it. It could be about the first time you learned to ride a two-wheeled bike, or the time you hiked the Grand Canyon, or the time you made the winning basket for your team’s championship! Include your recollections AND the recollections of threeother people who were with you when this happened. You will need to interview those people and have them tell you what they remember. Your interviews must be conducted in three different ways: One interview must be in person. Another interview should be done over the phone. The last one should be conducted by using either email, text messaging, Facebook, or traditional mail. (If you have a small photo you can include that as well). Steps used to complete this slide/task: Describe the event you wish to write about. Make a list of people who were there that could help you remember the facts or to provide information. Decide what you want to ask them about the event. Make a list of questions…Who? What? Where? When? Why? How? Contact your list of people and let them know what you need to do and let them know your deadline. Set up a time to conduct the interview using whichever method you have chosen. Contact them and conduct the actual interview. Be sure to write down notes or have something to record their answers on. Ask appropriate follow-up questions if you need more details. Thank the person for their time. As mentioned, you will then simply write your story for your fourth “power point slide”. The slide will actually look a lot like the one I’m currently using…in other words, will simply be a slide with your story all typed out etc… PLEASE DON’T BEAT THE SYSTEM BY SQUEEZING IN THE MARGINS OR USING A HUGE FONT SIZE. I AM CURRENTLY USING A SIZE 14 FONT. (NO ONE SHOULD USE ANYTHING LARGER ETC…) Don’t forget to use or to include quotes or descriptions from the people you interviewed. Weave all the interviews together with your recollections to tell your story. **Just for the record, when we “show and tell” your final slide show, we won’t take time to have everyone read this slide. But you can summarize it etc…

  5. City of Sioux Falls “My Daily History” Where are the Robey’s? Rick-- Mitchell, SD Bike path House OG Dana-- Omaha, NE Dawn- - Atlanta, GA Key/Legend: House O’Gorman

  6. “My Family” This slide is for you to be creative.  You can simply make a collage using photos of your family, or you can write an essay about your family…focusing on a special event or a special person. Maybe you would like to write a poem about your family…regardless, use your imagination to come up with a special family page!

  7. Who Will I Become? This final slide will be used to simply tell me your plans down the road. Talk about the high school you plan on attending, or where you would like to go to college. What do you plan on studying? Do you plan on playing sports in high school or college? Where would you like to live when your out own your own? What are some places you would like to visit when you become older? Where do you want to retire? How will you give back to the community? What changes do you see in the future? With food? With Medicine? Housing? Transportation? Clothes? Technology? Politics?
