All foreign funds transferred to the country must, however, be reported and registered. As a condition for repatriating assets, the property must also be approved as a non-resident. Non-resident owners are expected to pay capital gains tax when selling their assets later. The property's buyer is expected to subtract a specified amount from the sale’s proceeds and to remit it directly to the South African Revenue Service before paying the seller's balance.
