  2. Purpose, Agenda, Length (PAL) • Purpose: To orient BLTs and principals to • Q3 monitoring document • Q3 monitoring protocol • Agenda and Length • Protocol review (7 minutes) • Document review (35 minutes)

  3. Building Protocol for the Q3 Monitoring Event • Principal and LEA (district rep) • Both must present for the event. • Principal is the primary speaker. • LEA can provide support as well. • 2.5 – 3 hours • NO INTERRUPTIONS unless emergency • BLT • A rep may be present, but not required. • Prepare evidence in advance. • Create a building climate that allows the principal to work in uninterrupted fashion.

Monitoring Protocol for the Q3 Monitoring Event • We will… • Collect 2 types of data • Interview data • Evidence-based data • Monitor all buildings in a standard format. • Use the monitoring form which matches your SIG model. • Record what you say and look at what you give us. • Don’t worry because… • We won’t come back a second day unless a true emergency arises. • We won’t request paperwork or emails after the visit. • We will be quick yet thorough due to OGT.

  7. Provide logs ELECTRONICALLY and on paper. Provide PAPER evidence and be prepared to explain.

  9. This table measures your student school attendance, not extended day or faculty attendance. Interview data – evidence NOT required. Monitoring Date – Go back to beginning of school year and perhaps provide a monthly snapshot. Do this table in advance of the monitoring. Student Attendance Rate – Percentage only. Goal – Based on that period’s attendance, what goal did you set for the next period’s attendance? Percentage only.

  10. This table is where you get to brag and reflect on problems you encounter that you need help solving. Interview data – evidence NOT required. Successes – Brief statement of things you have done well! Barriers – Brief statement of the problem. Principals, don’t shock your district administrator here…. Plan to overcome – Brief list of steps. Do this table in advance of the monitoring day.

  11. Have all walk-through logs ready for the monitor to view.

  12. Paper evidence for EACH recommendation. Paper plan for EACH recommendation. Neatly organized, sections divided by recommendation, no fluff or extra things. Prepare the evidence ahead of time and make a complete copy for the monitor. Lack of significant progress can have serious consequences. Q2 Recommendations Review

Review of Turnaround or Transformation Model Components • This is your “Reporting Metrics” document from earlier this school year, and from Q2 monitoring. • Interview-based report for Q3. • Important to have latest copy, most updated, available on PAPER and ELECTRONICALLY for the monitor. • Always keep this updated for ODE.

  14. Your Monitor Will PASTE this from Q2 Monitoring Report BLTs may wish to check the Q2 Report for any omissions to the data. You may provide a revision electronically to your monitor, or ahead of time to your transformation specialist.

  15. Your Monitor Will PASTE this from Q2 Monitoring Report … …and then the monitor will ask the principal if any data points have changed since the Q2 Monitoring visit. So if you have given another short-cycle assessment, have that data typed and available for the monitor ON PAPER and ELECTRONICALLY using the table provided.
