Welcome • Summer Camp Description • Camp at Merryill School offers fun-filled summer programs for children in Kindergarten – 2nd Grade • Each week, campers jump into action, participating in exciting sports programs, exploring nature, becoming involved in performing and creative arts, playing a part in group activities, and attending special events. • Our campers have the opportunity to expand their horizons during the summer, embarking on new adventures, and having fun! Our exceptional program and dedicated staff create an environment that forges lifelong friendships among our campers. We create a summer experience that is unforgettable! • It all starts with our outstanding camp counselors. • A camp is only as good as its staff, and we are extremely proud of ours. Talent, creativity, love of children, leadership and devotion make our camp counselors the heart and soul of the program. We take our camp programs seriously and begin our summer with intensive staff training and orientation. Activity Blocks • Each week campers will engage in unique activity blocks that offer relevant, meaningful experiences that allow them to construct new knowledge while connecting to previous knowledge. Activities provide an opportunity for campers to engage, explore and make sense of the natural world through inquiry and project-based learning. • BLOCK 7Color Wars • Campers are divided into teams, each of which is assigned a color. The teams compete against each other in challenges and events to earn points. • BLOCK 1 Photography: A portable studioCampers are immersed in the art and craft of still photography, and are introduced to the tools necessary to capture great images and refine them through digital imaging. • BLOCK 2 Drama-The Musical • Campers learn basic knowledge of acting techniques and stage movement to develop their imagination, creativity and confidence. • BLOCK 8Lego-Inspired Engineering • Dream it. Build it. Wreck it. Repeat! Campers build elaborate objects, structures and vehicles, while they explore fundamental principles of engineering and physics. • BLOCK 9 Citizenship & Friendship Brigade • Campers will find creative ways to give back, while learning about how they can make a difference, strengthening their character and friendships along the way. • BLOCK 3 Iron “Camp” Chef • Campers will practice a variety of kitchen skills and use their • creativity, while getting messy, and eating delicious foods! • BLOCK 4 Science Gurus • Practical and fun experimentation and project building send campers home with enthusiasm and the knowledge required to take the sciences further as hobbies. • BLOCK 10 Games Galore • Come be part of a summer camp that continues to emphasize a vast exposure to a variety of sports and games. • BLOCK 11 Artist Studio • Draw it! Paint it! Sculpt it! There is no right or wrong when it comes to making art. Use your creativity to express your inner artist. • BLOCK 5Technology Stop • With an emphasis on creativity, exploration, and friendship, campers discover new tech skills in an energetic, kid-friendly learning environment. • BLOCK 6Time Travelers Through the Decades • Come explore the Roaring 20’s, Fabulous 50’s, and Excellent 80’s.
