Teacher Notes The focus for the challenge is to design and make a robot. • Each slide takes the child through the design process. • The student may choose to complete * the labelled design drawing section of the task and/ or * complete a model of their robot design. The following guide will lead the students through the design and make process steps . It is not a requirement that these details be returned. Brainstorm: Children's experiences and understandings of robots in their world. e.g. *sounds robots make * movement * where are robots found? * how do they work ? * what type of work do robots do in the real world.? * what type of work can robots be used for ?

Students may email their completed rocket design drawings to either: aldina.craig@det.nsw.edu.au or helen.lansdown@det.nsw.edu.au by Friday, 20th August 2004 Hard copies of design drawings and or photos of robot models may be posted to your SciTech Consultant at either the Deniliquin SEA or Wagga SEA office. Please ensure that child’s name, school and stage are included. It is anticipated that Robot models will be sought for Education Week displays in each SEA. Details on collection closer to the date
