  2. What is an EIS? • A tool used to help top-level executives to analyze, compare and highlight trends in different sections of their organization.

  3. EIS • Targeted to individuals in the senior and middle management positions • Helps to assist them in meeting their information needs • Designed for use of developing, recommending, and selecting courses of action for the organization

  4. Advantages • Collect a summary of your companies information • Easy to use • Very quick and timely

  5. Disadvantages • Functions are limited • Data collected could be too complex • Greater chance for flaws and inconsistency

  6. MIS • Computer-based system that provides managers with tools for organizing, evaluating and efficiently running their departments.

  7. DSS • An interactive computer-based system used to help actually make decisions using communications technologies.

  8. What’s the Difference? • The EIS is the big picture • It is made up of information from both the MIS as well as the DSS
