  3. Upcoming ESPON Tools ESPON HyperAtlas Updating Web application dealing with the multiscalar territorial analysis concept. It is a territorial analysis tool for measuring inequalities. It allows to evaluate the situation of a region for a given indicator taking into various levels and scales of neighbourhood. Target groups: Practitioners at different geographical levels. Researchers, students and general public interested in territorial development issues. Availability: February 2011

  4. Upcoming ESPON Tools Map Finder Simple web application to find, display, print and download maps resulted from ESPON projects. The web application shall have a very user-friendly interface which allows users to find a desired map in an easy way. Each map included in the online map finder shall comprise the map itself and a short description and reference on the origin of the map. Target groups: Policy makers and practitioners at different geographical levels. Researchers, students and general public interested in territorial development issues. Availability: October 2011

  5. Upcoming ESPON Tools Data Navigator A compilation of data inventories covering the entire ESPON space at regional level plus EU candidate countries. Information on data sources and on possibilities to access territorially relevant data. Target groups: Policy makers and practitioners at different geographical levels. Researchers carrying out ESPON projects Availability: End 2011-beginning 2012

Upcoming ESPON Tools • Typology Guidance Paper • A document given guidance and including practical examples on the use of regional typologies in the European context (according to the decision taken at the MC meeting on 15 November 2010). • 10 regional typologies: • Urban-rural; metropolitan regions; border; islands; sparsely populated regions; outermost regions (DG Regio) • Mountainous; industrial transition and coastal regions (ESPON) • Target groups: • Researchers carrying out ESPON projects • Availability: • January 2011

Upcoming ESPON Tools • OLAP Cube for NUTS to grid conversion • A tool that allows the combination of NUTS data (socio-economic data) with GRID data (CLC,…). • It can also be used as a conversion tool between different NUTS versions (e.g. NUTS 2003 to NUTS 2006) • Target groups: • Practitioners at different geographical levels. • Researchers and scientists. • Availability: • January 2011

Upcoming ESPON Tools • Code in R language for outlier detection • A tool to be integrated in the ESPON Database that allows the detection of exceptional values in datasets (statistical, spatial, temporal and thematic perspectives). • Target groups: • Users of the ESPON Database. • Availability: • January 2011
