  6. How you Live is Determinative “Sow a thought, reap an act; sow an act, reap a habit; sow a habit, reap a character; sow a character, reap a destiny.”

  7. William Perkins (1558-1602) “There are two sorts of seeds which men sow in this life, good and evil. Two kinds of sowers, spiritual men, and carnal men. Two sorts of ground, in which this seed is sown; the flesh and the spirit. Two sorts of harvests, which men are to reap according to the seed; corruption, and life.”

  8. Don’t Sow to yourself! • “The one who is taught the word is to share all good things with the one who teaches him. • Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, this he will also reap. • For the one who sows to his own flesh will from the flesh reap corruption, but the one who sows to the Spirit will from the Spirit reap eternal life. • Let us not lose heart in doing good, for in due time we will reap if we do not grow weary. • So then, whil we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, and especially to those who are of the household of the faith.”

  9. The Rich Fool . . . • “But God said to him, ‘You fool! This very night your soul is required of you; and now who will own whay you have prepared? • So is the man who stores up treasure for himself, and is not rich toward God” Luke 12:20-21.

  10. Sowing to the Spirit “Sowing to the Spirit means living for God’s pleasure instead of our own pleasure. So, for example, a young couple sows to the Spirit when they preserve the purity of their marriage bed. A man sows to the Spirit when he denies his own ambition in order to serve others. A woman sows to the Spirit when she is reconciled to her sister in Christ. A husband and wife sow to the Spirit when they repent of their selfishness and begin to work together in true spiritual partnership. In short, sowing to the Spirit means living for Christ in every area of life. Every time we think a thought, speak a word, or perform a deed, we plant a seed. Every time we think, say, or do anything for the glory of God, we are sowing to his Spirit” Philip Graham Ryken.

  11. Patience, Patience, Patience . . . • William Carey (1761 – 1834). • George Mueller (1805 – 1898) • John Flavel (1627-1691) • Job, Abraham, Isaiah, etc.: • “As an example, brethren, of suffering and patience, take the prophets who spoke in the name of the Lord. • We count those blessed who endured. You have heard of the endurance of Job and have seen the outcome of the Lord’s dealings, that the Lord is full of compassion and is merciful” James 5:10-11.

  12. Patience, Goodness, Faithfulness “If men could be persuaded of this, that the time of this life is the seed time; that the last judgment is the harvest; and that as certainly as the husbandman which sows his seed looks for increase, so we for our good works, a recompence to the full; O how fruitful should we be, how plentiful, how full of good works?” ------------------- • “Since all these things are to be destroyed in this way, what sort of people ought you to be in holy conduct and godliness . . . • Therefore, beloved, since you look for these things, be diligent to be found by Him in peace, spotless and blameless” 2 Peter 3:11, 14.

  13. Sow what Christ has Sown in you • “For in this case the saying is true, ‘One sows and another reaps. • I sent you to reap that for which you have not labored; others have labored and you have entered into their labor.” John 4:37-38.
