  8. Pain Point Solutions

  9. Pain Point Common to all Applications • Prohibitively high-priced integration of monitoring, telemetry and automation technologies to work in remote areas with no power sources and limited network coverage T-BOX solution: • Integration – Complete monitoring, telemetry and automation functionality is provided in a single package. Functionality including SCADA, data logger, dialer, and PLC is included in a single product. T-BOX WM standard enclosure including internal battery further eliminates added costs and scheduling delays due to systems integration work. • Ultra low power consumption allows use of low cost, lithium battery or solar power sources. The integral battery in T-BOX WM further reduces costs related to integration, installation, and operation. • Integral Web server – Web pages are accessible to users, anytime, anywhere and eliminate the cost of expensive, SCADA software. Web pages impose virtually no learning curve and can also be used for local maintenance operations, thus saving the cost of additional software. • Multi-communications – A wide range of integral, data communications equipment (DCE’s) means that the RTU will work at all customer locations. Since most data loggers and other products intended for these applications have integrated only one or two DCE’s, many customer installations are not covered.

  10. Mobile Asset Management Generators, pumps and other mobile equipment • Customer dissatisfaction with asset performance / reliability / failures—Cost effective availability of alarms, live information, and historical information combined with programmable automation minimizes failures, maximizes supplier responsiveness and allows optimal operation of assets. • Inefficient asset management: idle assets in some locations while urgently needed in other locations—Live and historical data on location and status provides tracking information for efficient management. • Lack of network coverage for some end user locations—Multi-communications offering ensures all locations are covered. • Lack of asset status information—Push communications efficiently provide live status information. • Lack of asset maintenance information—Historical logging provides information for accounting, forecasting and continuous improvement. • Security concerns, theft, vandalism—Alarm management provides live security monitoring with escalation to multiple recipients. • Monitoring products don’t provide automation or calculation functionality—Programmable automation environment is standard in T-BOX products. • Scalability of monitoring equipment to more sophisticated applications requiring control—T-BOX WM through MS are fully compatible in software and communications and scale from four through hundreds of I/O points.

  11. Mobile Asset Management Generators, Pumps and other Mobile Equipment Summary • Cost effective availability of alarms, live information, and historical information combined with programmable automation minimizes failures, maximizes supplier responsiveness and allows optimal operation of assets.

  12. Infrastructure Management Vendor Managed Inventory: Chemical Tank at Manufacturing Facility • Risk of depleted inventory and dissatisfied end user— Push communications efficiently provide live status information. Alarm management ensures that inventory does not reach low levels. • No access to current site status and inventory level—Push communications efficiently provide live status information to multiple recipients. • Lack of historical, “usage” information for forecasting— Historical data on inventory and status provides information for forecasting and effective management. • Inefficient routing, expensive fleet management—Live information via push communications allows efficient routing and fleet management. • Power is not available at all sites—Low or ultra-low power consumption allows use of low cost, lithium battery or solar power sources. The integral battery in T-BOX WM further reduces costs related to integration, installation, and operation. • No communications technology reaches all locations—Multi-communications offering ensures all locations are covered. • Monitoring products don’t integrate with transmitters for level or pressure—T-BOX products support low-power sensors as well as 4 – 20 mA transmitters, while conserving power.

  13. Infrastructure Management Vendor Managed Inventory / Chemical Tank at Manufacturing Facility Summary • For the price of a monitoring device, T-BOX WM is a self-powered solution that provides live alarming, historical data, local calculations and complete connectivity.

  14. Water / Wastewater Utilities Combined Sewage Overflow (CSO) Monitoring • Lack of timely notification of CSO events resulting in regulatory agency fines—Push communications efficiently provide live status information. Alarm management ensures that reports are escalated and recipients are informed. • Lack of historical information impedes record-keeping—Historical data on CSO events and status provides information for effective management. • Monitoring system is high-maintenance / expensive to operate—Highly integrated product provides low-maintenance operation. • Monitoring system does not integrate with SCADA system— Common protocols such as Modbus ensure integration with most SCADA systems. Push communications can also be very effectively implemented without SCADA integration. • Power is not available at all sites—Low or ultra-low power consumption allows use of low cost, lithium battery or solar power sources. The integral battery in T-BOX WM further reduces costs related to integration, installation, and operation. • Monitoring products don’t integrate with transmitters for flow or level—T-BOX products support low-power sensors as well as 4 – 20 mA transmitters, while conserving power. • Limited or high-priced networking / some systems don’t work at all end user locations— Multi-communications offering ensures all locations are cost-effectively covered.

  15. Water / Wastewater Utilities Combined Sewage Overflow (CSO) Monitoring Summary • An inexpensive T-BOX solution integrates with utility operations and provides the live and historical reporting that eliminates regulatory penalties.

  16. Oil & Gas Gas Distribution Utilities • Pressure drops / loss of service to customers—Push communications efficiently provide live status information such as pressure trends. Alarm management ensures that multiple recipients are informed when pressure drops to low levels. • Lack of historical information impedes system modeling—Historical data on line pressure trends provides information for modeling and operations improvements. • Power is not available at all sites—Low or ultra-low power consumption allows use of low cost, lithium battery or solar power sources. The integral battery in T-BOX WM further reduces costs related to integration, installation, and operation. • Monitoring system does not integrate with SCADA system—Common protocols such as Modbus ensure integration with most SCADA systems . Push communications can also be very effectively implemented without SCADA integration. • Limited or high-priced networking / some systems don’t work at all end user locations— Multi-communications offering ensures all locations are cost-effectively covered.

  17. Oil & Gas Gas Distribution Utilities Summary • Cost effective solution provides live status information to ensure optimal customer service as well as historical trends for continuous improvement.

  18. T-BOX Low Power Product DIFFERENTIATORS • Fully integrated (“All in one” package) • Ultra low power • Redundant batteries • Web technology • Push communications • Multi-communications • Alarm management • Historical data logging • Simple configuration tools • Programmable controls / logic • Intelligent End Device (IED) protocols

  19. DIFFERENTIATORS T-BOX Low Power Product Differentiators (1 of 2): • Fully integrated – Complete monitoring, telemetry and automation functionality is provided in a single package. T-BOX WM standard enclosure including internal battery eliminates added costs and scheduling delays due to systems integration work. • Ultra low power consumption allows use of the lowest cost, lithium battery or solar power sources. T-BOX WM provides long battery life. The integral battery in T-BOX WM further reduces costs related to integration, installation, and operation. • Redundant Batteries keep the RTU operating even when one battery fails and provide flexibility in scheduling site visits to replace a battery. • Web technology - Integral Web server – Web pages are accessible to users, anywhere, anytime. PC-based Web pages also provide all, local HMI operations when maintenance personnel visit the sites, thus saving the cost of additional software. • Push technology – End user operations personnel are immediately notified of alarms and important events without the need for polling the RTU. This takes best advantage of inexpensive data communications plans on public networks. • Multi-communications – Our range of integral, data communications equipment (DCE’s) means that the RTU will work at all customer locations. Since most data loggers and other products intended for these applications have integrated only one or two DCE’s, many customer installations are not covered.

  20. DIFFERENTIATORS T-BOX LP Product Differentiators (2 of 2): • Alarm management – The T-BOX alarm system detects alarm conditions and reports them using Push Technology. Alarm management ensures that un-acknowledged alarms will be escalated. Even cellular phone users can acknowledge alarms and send text commands to the T-BOX RTU. • Historical data logging – T-BOX data logging capability retains historical information, such as tank levels, in both tabular and trend graph formats and allows users to adapt operations for the highest efficiency. Trends can also assist in maintenance management and continuous improvement. • Simple Tools - WebForm Studio – An integral tool for building Web pages considerably speeds the configuration process and ensures there will be no software integration problems. Users will also appreciate that no programming is needed. • Programmable control – Even when control functions are not necessary, users very often need to write some code. Our choice of programming via IEC 61131-3 LD (Ladder Diagram), Basic, or Microsoft Automation provides considerable flexibility. These capabilities are very uncommon in products intended for monitoring, only. • Intelligent End Device (IED) protocols – We have developed an extensive range of protocols for flow meters, security devices, sensors, etc. These are lacking in most, competitive products.
