  1. A Bolero to Complement Your Dress and Outfit

  2. The bolero is a waist-length multi-colored jacket worn by women over another dress or an outfit. Traditionally, boleros are colored jackets open in front, with borders and long sleeves. This fashion style has carried over from the 1850s and 1860s and has been copied from the Torero, a light jacket worn by bullfighters in the ring for added protection. Society ladies of that time decided to adopt this fashion though the boleros of that time were a matter of convenience. The ladies wore wide hoop skirts and the boleros which were waist-length only worked better than long jackets.

  3. Women’s bolerotoday is all-weather all-occasion apparel that can be combined with light floral dresses or cocktail gowns in summer and heavy woolens in winter. Bolero jackets also go very well with evening dresses and bridal gowns and are now available in various designs and sleeve-lengths, in wrap-around or zippers down the front.   The rise of women’s bolero in all its elegance and finery was seen in the 50s as the perfect match for flowery summer dresses and swinging petticoats. After the early 1890s when Yves Saint Laurent designed pretty bolero jackets they dropped out of sight only to reemerge in the 2000s and become a permanent accessory in women’s fashion.

  4. There are several benefits to women’s bolerojackets. First, it is an all-weather piece of apparel. During summer, you can wear light fabric, lacy, and crocheted short-sleeved boleros over summer dresses, tank tops and jeans, or formalwear. During winter, wear boleros of heavier fabrics for protection against the chill. Further, a bolero jacket worn over different dresses adds value to the wardrobe as every time it makes for an altogether different look.

  5. Next, boleros are available to suit any occasion. Some boleros are ideal for informal outings or a day spent with friends. These may have light floral patterns or prints with a fun look. Then there is women’s bolero that is ideal for formal occasions like an evening out for a fine dining experience or an office get-together. These boleros have elaborate patterns, are made of silk brocade or something similar, and are often embedded with crystal or beads. These are expensive and can set you back by hundreds of dollars.  There is another aspect of women’s boleroand it has got nothing to do with fashion and style. It is an ideal outfit for heavier women. A bolero helps to cover the mid-riff and a long-sleeved bolero will cover the upper arms, two places where the fat is most visible. You can also make the best of your wardrobe by wearing a short-sleeve dress with a long-sleeve bolero and the opposite for the same effect.

  6. Since women’s bolerois always worn over another dress or an outfit, make sure that you wear the basic dress to the store to check whether the two complement each other and match to your satisfaction.
