Most of Southeast Asia began industrializing in the 1960’s • Industrialization is when an economy moves from agriculture and producing things by hand to manufacturing using modern technology • Low wages in Southeast Asia have meant that businesses around the world do a lot of their manufacturing there • Many of the countries of Southeast Asia have joined the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), an organization the promotes economic growth in the region
