  1. Welcome to Kindergarten Mrs. Howard’s INCREDIBLE class!

  2. We are a GEmodel school We follow 8 expectations that teach us to show respect to ourselves and others. Each week, we learn a life principle that teaches us how to live a life with high moral standards.

  3. Classroom Management Teacher reminds student of the expected behavior. Second reminder to improve the behavior. Student folder is pulled. Student’s folder is signed by teacher and parent. Email will be sent when folder is marked.

  5. Our Incredible Day Doors open at 8:10 - students go to the cafeteria Students come down to the room at 8:20 everyday. Mondays will be a little different than tuesdays - fridays. Monday:Tuesday - Friday: 9:05 - 10:00 Specials 10: 58 - 11:28 Lunch 10:58 - 11:28 Lunch 12:40 - 1:35 Specials

  7. Our Incredible Day Specials - art, music & pe It is mandatory that all students wear tennis shoes to pe. Specials classes can give out slips for student misconduct and/or for not wearing proper shoes. slips can affect their report card grade.

  8. Lunch Procedures Students may bring their lunch from home or they may buy from the cafeteria. Money may be deposited into student accounts with cash or check in the cafeteria, or online at www.schoolcafe.com Breakfast is $1.25 Lunch is $2.50

  9. Lunch Procedures There may be certain food items you don’t want your child to buy in line, especially on a daily basis (chips & sweets). You can set restrictions online as well. *Please give your child a few weeks to get adjusted to the lunch routine and eating with their peers before you decide to come up and eat with them. Their friends cannot eat at the table with you when you do visit.

  10. Student IDNumbers Each student will receive their personal id number. This number will remain the same as long as they are in tisd. They will need to memorize this number to be able to: Buy lunch Login to educational computer websites Please help them learn their number.

  11. Things to know *Report cards are issued once every 9 weeks. *Grading scale: 3 = proficient; 2 = approaching; 1 = needs support *Kindergarteners are expected to read on a level c by the end of the year. *Fall conferences will be set up soon to discuss your child’s progress.

  12. Attendance * Please call the office if your child is absent. * If they attend after school daycare, please let the daycare know your child will be absent. * Return with a written note or a doctors note. * Make sure the note is dated and signed by the parent or doctor.

  13. Attendance Which absences are excused? *Medical absences *Late arrivals with a Dr. note *Death in the immediate family *Weather conditions making travel dangerous (will be determined by the district) *Extenuating circumstances approved by the Principal *Religious holy days *Court appearances Too many absences?… A student is in violation of the compulsory attendance law if: * Is absent without excuse from school for three or more days, or part of the day, within a four week period. (Family vacations) * Late arrivals and early releases that do not meet the criteria set by the district will count against the student attendance. When my child is absent… * Send a signed doctor or handwritten note within 2 days of the student return to school. * 5 or more absences due to personal illness will require a signed note from the physician. * Calls and emails cannot be accepted as an excuse for absences; follow with a Dr. or handwritten note.

  14. Dismissal If you wish to change the way your child goes home, i must have a handwritten note stating the change with the date(s) included. If you need to pick your child up early, you will have to sign them out in the front office. Please try not to make changes after 3:00.

  15. Daily folder A red folder has been coming home every day. Please make sure to check it and sign it daily. If you ever write a note to me, please put it in the red folder. I will not check inside their backpack for notes.

  16. Home work We will not have homework in kindergarten. We believe family time is very valuable. I will be sending home “take-home readers” very soon so students can practice reading books on their reading level. Also, I will send home practice work as needed or requested.

  19. Volunteers I can always use help: In the classroom - make sure to fill out the volunteer form found on the tisd website or they will not let you come in. At parties (Christmas, Valentine’s) Kindergarten rodeo If you can’t come in but want to do things from home, let me know!
