  3. Meet Your New Best Friend: DR. HERC • D: DEFINE PROBLEM • State as a question • Must be testable • R: RESEARCH LITERATURE • Gather information • Use your senses. • Define terms

  4. Hypothesis & Prediction • H: HYPOTHESIS & PREDICTION • A testable statement, can be shown to be true or false by experimenting or observation. • Prediction • If, Then statement. • If the statement is true, then you would expect a certain result.

  5. Hypothesis & Prediction Hypothesis Prediction • Ex. If plants are given Miracle Grow, then they will grow taller.

  6. Experiment • E: EXPERIMENT • List materials needed • Identify the variables you are testing and that are stated in your hypothesis • Write a detailed, step by step procedure • Carry out experiment and collect data

  7. DR. HERC • R: RESULTS • Present results in a data table, charts, pictures, or graphs • C: CONCLUSIONS • Begin with “In conclusion… • Restate hypothesis • State whether data supported or did not support the hypothesis • Support conclusion with specific facts from the data collected
