  3. What is DV Lottery? • A mechanism to strengthen population diversity in the United States; • The random selection by computer of over 50,000 qualified applicants for immigration to the United States. http://georgia.usembassy.gov

  4. When is DV Lottery? • Only once per program year; • On-line Entries may be submitted beginning October 5,2010untilNovember 3,2010; • Status check only on-line using confirmation number beginning May 1, 2011. http://georgia.usembassy.gov

  5. Place of Birth or Chargeability Requirement Applicant must be born in a country designated as having a low rate of immigration to the United States; or Applicant’s spouse is born in eligible country; or Applicant’s parents were born in eligible country as long as they were not resident of the ineligible country where the applicant was born. Education /Work Requirement Successful completion of an equivalent 12 year course of elementary and secondary education; OR Two years of qualifying work experience within the past five years in an occupation requiring at least two years of training or experience to perform.   7. Family Members of Principal Applicant Spouse of principal applicant at time of entry. You must list your spouse even if you are currently separated; Unmarried children under 21 at the time of entry (including biological, adopted, and stepchildren); NOTE: Your entry will be disqualified if you do not list your spouse and qualifying children at time of entry.   8. How to Submit anEntry • Enter using ONLYwww.dvlottery.state.gov; • Please do NOT/NOT pay any fee for entry; • Complete all applicable fields of DS-5501; • Scan all photograph(s) per specifications; • Print and keep confirmation page. http://georgia.usembassy.gov

How to Submit anEntry Required Information For DS-5501 • Full name • Date of birth • Gender • City where you were born • Country where you were born • Country of eligibility or chargeability for the DV program • Entry photographs • Mailing address • Country where you live today • Phone number and e-mail address are optional • Educational level • Marital status • Number of children and children's information • Spouse information http://georgia.usembassy.gov

  10. How to Submit anEntry • Specifications for Photographs • Please refer to the official instructions for exact specifications; • Photographs must be scanned for each individual or your entry will be disqualified; • No group or family photographs will be accepted. http://georgia.usembassy.gov

How to Submit anEntry • Confirmation Page • Please print and keep your unique confirmation number located on your confirmation page; • Your confirmation page is the only way to check if you are a winner; • NEVER allow anyone else to know your confirmation number or to keep your confirmation page. http://georgia.usembassy.gov

How to Submit anEntry Please Remember! • www.dvlottery.state.gov is the ONLY valid web site; • There is NEVER a fee for entering; • If you submit more than one entry, all entries will be disqualified; • Incomplete entries will be disqualified; • Do NOT/NOT use translation companies or visa facilitation companies to submit your entry; • Please print and keep your confirmation page. http://georgia.usembassy.gov

  13. How to Check Status • Check status beginning May 1, 2011; • ONLY check status at www.dvlottery.state.gov; • Use confirmation page; • Your will NOT/NOT be notified by letter or by e-mail; • U.S. Embassy will not provide a list of successful entrants . http://georgia.usembassy.gov
