Code of Conduct Committee Updates Quick Reference Chart • Level III and IV – Removed the wording “through verbal or written communication” to allow for any type of attempt to sell/purchase a prohibited substance without being in possession. • Consequences Levels I, II, and III – Added the acronym “ECO” and consistent wording for clarification of Extended Classroom Opportunity to be consistent with Code of Conduct Charts.

Code of Conduct Committee Updates • Discipline Management Plan – Rewording of “Annually during the registration process, each parent shall electronically sign the Required Signature Page for Students and the Verification of Receipt, agreeing that both the parent and student will abide by Northwest ISD policy and the Student Handbook and Code of Conduct and acknowledging that the Student Handbook and Code of Conduct  can be found online or that a paper copy may be obtained by requesting it in writing from the campus.” • Definition of a Student With Disability Under IDEA – Changed “mentally retarded” to current term of “intellectually disabled”. • Level III Chart – Elementary - Removed the wording “through verbal or written communication” to allow for any type of attempt to sell/purchase a prohibited substance without being in possession.

Code of Conduct Committee Updates • Level I, II, and III Charts – High School – Added and clarified consistent wording for “ECO (Extended Classroom Opportunities)” to the Disciplinary Options along with detention before, during, or after school. • Level III Charts – All Levels – Clarified consistency between charts with #28 – “Interfering with school activities, including trespassing, boycotting, group demonstrations, and falsifying a report” • Level IV Chart – All Levels - Removed the wording “through verbal or written communication” to allow for any type of attempt to sell/purchase a prohibited substance without being in possession.

Code of Conduct Committee Updates • Level IV Chart – All Levels – Duplicated statement from DAEP section to read: Elementary students placed in a DAEP will be accommodated on their home campuses. An elementary student may be placed in a DAEP at another location. Elementary students may not be placed in a DAEP with students not in elementary school. • Level V Chart – All Levels - Duplicated statement from DAEP section to read: Elementary students placed in a DAEP will be accommodated on their home campuses. An elementary student may be placed in a DAEP at another location. Elementary students may not be placed in a DAEP with students not in elementary school. • Detentions/Saturday Detention - Clarified consistent wording for “ECO (Extended Classroom Opportunities)”
