  1. Question 2.

  2. Our main character Pearl. • .

  3. When creating the character Pearl. When deciding that we would create a thriller on a young girl called pearl, I drew a design up for what pearl would look like and wear when staring in the opening title sequence ‘Hidden.’ We wanted the teenage audience to connect with the young 17 year old girl and to remind the audience of her youth through subtle hints for example, her Vans beanie hat: which is very popular in the fashion market for young people. Pearl is a middle class student who lives in Brighton, with a strict religious catholic back ground that she is forced to have in her life by attending church regularly by her devoted parents. .

  4. Pearl. Pearl is a typical teenage girl that wears dark makeup around her eyes which is to represent that she is a typical girl that takes care of her appearance despite that it is down her face from the events she has gone through that day in our opening title sequence. As you can see Pearl has flicks at the end of her eyeliner around her eyes which could represent angel wings, and that she should see through the sight of god, but as it smudges she rebels. Pearl is also dressed in black which brings out her gothic side and also representing the dark lord or the devil especially as she wears the anti Christ jumper to fit in with this subtle hint to the audience.

  5. Which characters that Pearl could link with? • . As you can see we did use similar shots to the series called ‘Skins’ with a young girl playing Effy who is emotionally damaged and looks into drugs and boys to sort out her problems. We decided to use Effy as a rough guide as she is one of my favourite characters I've ever seen on TV, as she has two different sides to her that not most people don’t see which could link to Pearl’s religious background as she rebels just like Effy did on the Channel e4 series. They are also very youthful characters, showing their age of the teenage years. Effy also wears the same type of clothes as our character Peal does which is dark colours and dark makeup around the eyes.
